I think I liked this second book even more than the first one and I loved that one!  I loved Lukas and his flirtatious determination to win Willa over.  Yes, he had been a playboy in the past, but first the war and then meeting the intense, mysterious Willa started changing him and his view of what he wanted in life.  I enjoyed reading about Lukas and Willa's interactions.  So romantic and fun.  And I felt for him in his desperate search for his mother and sister.

I so enjoyed reading Willa's story after meeting her in the first book.  She has such a strong, intense personality that hides the fear of abandonment.  I loved her connection to music and how God uses this to encourage and draw her to Him in her darkest hour.   That scene was so poignant and heart-wrenching, I had to wipe tears from my eyes.

Willa's "family" are great supporting characters and I really liked reading more about them in this book.  Other great supporting characters were Lukas' mother and sister.  Lukas' sister was another intense female who had an interesting talent that became crucial to the story.

All in all, a very well written story that has mystery, romance, faith, healing, and music!  :)

I started playing the piano when I was 7. I didn’t discover any long-dormant genius or anything, but I liked it. When my sister quit, I kept playing. In middle school, I switched teachers, and moving from the lady at my church that I knew so well to someone who was just my piano teacher made a difference in how I applied myself. It deepened my love of music.

We all know how some random moments stand out forever in our memory. One such for me happened on the school bus. I was sitting with my best friend, talking about the new piano piece I was learning. “Via Delorosa” means Road of Sorrow, and it’s a song that tells musically about Jesus’ journey to Golgotha—ending with the faint chime of the nails being driven into his palms. As my beloved Mrs. Peto went through this song with me the night before, I remember her circling a D♯ that I’d missed and saying how important that note was. That it made the whole line weep.

That it would make the hearers weep. An epiphany so huge I had to share it with my friend. A well placed sharp could make music weep! Who knew?

That was but one lesson Mrs. Peto taught me in how music could evoke things words never could. A woman of strong faith, she also taught me how a song could preach the Gospel. Music can be medicine. It can be hope. It can be tears. It can be truth. Music can be Jesus to a hurting heart that turns its back on words.

This is a lesson I never forgot, and I had it always in mind as I was writing A Song Unheard. In this story, both my hero and heroine are musicians—violinists. But Willa (who is SO STUBBORN) wouldn’t listen to words of faith from any of the people in her life “suddenly spouting such nonsense.”

But then, in her darkest hour, she hears a slip of melody. And she realizes it’s the Lord.

I pray as readers move through the story of Willa Forsythe—violin prodigy and top-notch thief—that their spirits’ ears hear more than words, more than just a story. I pray they hear the Lord whispering that ultimate song. The one that says, “I love you.”

Let me just start by saying - I LOVE Roseanna's books! She's an awesome writer and I'm really looking forward to this new series. The first book in the series, A Name Unknown, releases on July 7, 2017. Today we have the cover reveal for the second book in the series, A Song Unheard, which is set to release in January 2018. So much excitement! :) :)

Review: The Reluctant Duchess

The Reluctant Duchess by Roseanna M. White

Brice Myerston, the Duke of Nottingham, has suddenly found himself in possession of a rare treasure his enemies are prepared to kill for. While Brice has never been one to shy away from manor-born ladies, the last thing he needs is the distraction of his neighbor, Lady Rowena, who finds herself in a desperate situation. But when the moody Earl of Lochabar tries to trap Brice into marrying Rowena, Brice finds he’s not as opposed to the idea as he expected to be.

Rowena wanted to escape the Highlands, but she’s reluctant to resort to marrying a notorious flirt just to gain his English home. And when she learns that Brice is mixed up in some kind of questionable business with a stolen treasure, she fears she’s about to end up directly in the path of everything she was trying to avoid.

Roseanna M. White is a master at weaving a dangerous mystery and a swoon worthy romance!  This is an awesome second book in her Ladies of the Manor series. (There is a lot of back story in the first book so I would recommend you read that book first.)

The story of the Duke of Nottingham continues in this book.  I love his character!  He's a swoon worthy hero for sure!  :D  Although some of the character traits that have made him so well liked are now working against him.  He's so well liked in fact (especially with the ladies) that he has a hard time proving to his new wife that he's never been in love with any other girl.  I love the fact that even though he's a really good man and person, the author shows where there is still room for him to change and grow.

And then there is Rowena!  Oh my!  She will grab your heart!  Her circumstances are so dire that she agrees to marry this man that she doesn't know and leave the place she has grown up in.  The poor girl is so broken.  I love the progression of her healing and restoration in this story.  She has to learn how to trust and love again.  The process may be painful but the end result is beautiful!

The mystery and danger from the red diamonds continues in this book along with the schemes of Lady Catherine and her brother.  I like how the plot moves quickly and makes you question who you think the villains are.  There is plenty of adventure, romance, and mystery to keep you glued to the pages of this book!

Review: The Lost Heiress

The Lost Heiress by Roseanna M. White

Brook Eden has never known where she truly belongs. Though raised in the palace of Monaco, she’s British by birth and was brought to the Grimaldis under suspicious circumstances as a babe. When Brook’s friend Justin uncovers the fact that Brook is likely a missing heiress from Yorkshire, Brook leaves the sun of the Mediterranean to travel to the moors of the North Sea to the estate of her supposed family.
The mystery of her mother’s death haunts her, and though her father is quick to accept her, the rest of the family and the servants of Whitby Park are not. Only when Brook’s life is threatened do they draw close—but their loyalty may come too late to save Brook from the same threat that led to tragedy for her mother.
As heir to a dukedom, Justin is no stranger to balancing responsibilities. When the matters of his estate force him far from Brook, the distance between them reveals that what began as friendship has grown into something much more. But how can their very different loyalties and responsibilities ever come together?
And then, for a second time, the heiress of Whitby Park is stolen away because of the very rare treasure in her possession—and this time only the servants of Whitby can save her.

I loved this book! In some reviews it is compared to Downton Abbey and you do have a little of that with the grandness of the house and the intricacies of the family and the behind the scenes thread of mystery and threat with the blackmailed maid.

I love Brook and Justin! Brook is a strong, confident, fun, loving, determined heroine and Justin is a loyal, loving, responsible, protective hero! Their relationship is built on a lifetime of friendship and while that actually gets in the way of their budding love, it also is the basis for a love that will last a lifetime.

There was so much depth to this book! There is the heartwarming story of a father and daughter re-uniting. It will tug at your heart-strings! Then there is the thread of mystery and intrigue running through the book that was very well done. The whole mystery of what happened to Brook's mother and why this danger is still alive for Brook was very interesting to me. The author does a great job of weaving this mystery into the story. And of course you have the romance blooming for Brook and Justin. They are perfect for each other but it takes time and danger to finally push them into that understanding.

I also really liked some of the supporting characters especially Lord Worthing. To the world he is somewhat known as a flirt but behind the scenes he is a strong, loyal, Godly friend. I'm really excited that the next book is about him! :D
