My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Now that Stephanie Pink has broken off a bad engagement, a new career opportunity appears to be just the distraction she needs. Presented with the chance to achieve her dream of becoming a full-fledged literary agent, Stephanie seeks to retrieve a coveted, handwritten manuscript from reclusive author Agnes Wharton. Things go awry when Agnes's dog, Sweetness, runs off during their meeting. The distraught author gives Stephanie an ultimatum: find her dog or Stephanie will never see the manuscript. While combing a nearby campground for Sweetness, Stephanie meets Rhett Hastings. Unbeknownst to her, he's a former CEO and bazillionaire who walked away from the very world she's trying to enter. Rhett agrees to help Stephanie search for the missing dog, and so begins a high jinks-filled adventure in a thirdhand RV. Will Stephanie ever obtain the elusive manuscript and launch her career? Or will she see that maybe, just maybe, Rhett's choice for a simpler life is really what she needs?

A recipe for love and loss, merriment and mayhem, fun and faith in the backwoods of the Pacific Northwest can only be found in Fetching Sweetness by Dana Mentink. It should have been so simple for Stephanie Pink: Retrieve a reclusive author's valuable new manuscript and be promoted to a full-fledged literary agent. But when the author's canine companion, Sweetness, makes a break for it and Stephanie has to track Sweetness down, she meets Rhett Hastings. They’re in for a surprising string of adventures and misadventures.

I really liked this fun sweet book.  The first line immediately throws you into the humor that flows through the rest of the book.  I found myself chuckling several times.  This book is an easy read with some quirky humorous moments, fun doggy antic moments, tender romantic moments, and the realization that when you follow God's plan and not your own, life works out for the good!

I loved both Stephanie and Rhett.  (What's not to love about Stephanie - she's a book lover!!:))  They are both still hurting from heartbreak in their past and each are working to assuage that hurt in different ways.   Rhett is trying to make up to his sister for a major mistake he made in her life by walking away from the lifestyle that he allowed to make him a ruthless man.   Stephanie is pushing herself to pursue a goal that she feels will honor her brother who died way too young.  When they are thrown together in a string of adventures and misadventures, they each have to realize that they need to re-evaluate their goals.

And of course the dog!!  LOL  I loved Sweetness!  And Sweetness' strays. :)
